Social Media & Google now Power the Global Village?
Once upon a time we lived in small villages where everyone knew each other, if the butcher made some great sausages the word would quickly spread, if the baker's flour wouldn't rise or the candle stick maker was always out of stock the whole village quickly knew! If you were in business in those days, honesty, integrity and doing a great job where your best marketing tools ? the grape vine would do the rest? In 2012 it's no longer enough to tell your customers about your brand, why they should buy from you, and what makes you different? Even competing on price won't help if you're selling cheap rubbish or ruining the environment with your production process! Today, more than ever, the grape vine is alive and buzzing ? but this time it's a Global Village and there are more grapevines, they reach into every corner of the world ? geographically and demographically.

"Improved my awareness of the issues and options, provided a very good foundation" ? Mark Sewell, Finzsoft Don't make these most common marketing mistakes (Too many people do)
Mistake 1: Thinking that your web developer has this "all taken care of." This industry is full of experts ? challenge is it's fast moving and broad. Most web developers are fantastic at building websites that look great, a few know how to get your website on the first page of Google? but there is much, much more. Don't make the mistake of thinking it's all looked after already ? invest 3 hours in your own education so you have the big picture and know what to ask for.
Mistake 2: Thinking that because you are spending money on Yellow, Finda or Gopher that you have your lead generation sorted. Most people look on Google! "Secondary" directories are SECONDARY ? meaning you often pay money to be in a secondary list full of your competitors!
Mistake 3: Thinking that because you are paying for Google Adwords you are now on the first page of Google and all is good. OK you probably are on the first page ? but you've picked the most expensive and inefficient way to get there and probably without any smarts behind your campaign! Even 'Certified' companies selling Adwords can cost you an arm and a leg for very poor results!
Mistake 4: Investing in Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) or Social Media Marketing without establishing first if it is worth it!
Mistake 5: Thinking that internet marketing is a website and a newsletter, or that internet marketing is expensive!
Mistake 6: Not doing keyword research, or chasing keyword volume rather than niches. You'll learn more about this in the workshop.
Mistake 7: Not aligning a strategic and tactical online marketing plan with your business objectives. The days of building a pretty website and just waiting for people to come are over. Yellow pages advertising is becoming less and less effective. Most people now just "Google it." Secondly they listen more to what their friends and other people are saying about you than what you're saying! Your business lives or dies based on being on the first page of Google, and what people are saying about you! There are "guru's" out there that would lead you to believe that getting on the first page of Google is difficult or very expensive. Nothing could be further from the truth!"Get ready for information overload? very good stuff, useful and up to date! " ?
